জিম্মি

জিম্মি (আরবি: ذمي‎‎ ḏimmī আইপিএ: [ˈðɪmmiː], collectively أهل الذمة ahl al-ḏimmah/dhimmah "the people of the dhimma") ইসলামি আইনের একটি পরিভাষা। ইসলামী রাষ্ট্রের অমুসলিম নাগরিকদের এ শব্দ দ্বারা বোঝানো হয়।[1][2]:৪৭০ জিম্মির আওতায় থাকা নাগরিকদের রাষ্ট্রকে জিজিয়া কর প্রদান করতে হয়।[3] পণ্ডিতদের মতে তারা নিজস্ব আইন কানুন পূর্ণরূপে মেনে চলতে পারবে কিন্তু ইসলামী রাষ্ট্রের নাগরিক হিসেবে কিছু বিধিনিষেধও আরোপিত হবে।[4] মুসলিমদের উপর আরোপিত কিছু নির্দিষ্ট দায়িত্ব জিম্মিদের পালন করতে হয় না এবং মুসলিমদের কিছু রাজনৈতিক সুবিধা জিম্মিদের উপর প্রযোজ্য হয় না। [5]

শরিয়া অনুযায়ী প্রথমদিকে শুধু ইহুদি, খ্রিষ্টান ও সাবেইনদের ক্ষেত্রে জিম্মি আইন প্রযোজ্য হত। পরবর্তীতে জরস্ট্রিয়ান, মান্ডিয়ান, হিন্দু ও বৌদ্ধদের ক্ষেত্রেও তা প্রযোজ্য হয়।[6][7] ইসলামি আইনের সবচেয়ে বৃহৎ মতবাদ হানাফি মতানুযায়ী মক্কার বাইরের এলাকার সকল অমুসলিমদের ক্ষেত্রেই জিম্মির আইন প্রযোজ্য হবে। [8]

শরিয়া অনুযায়ী জিম্মিরা শুকর ও মদ খেতে পারে।[9] তবে এই কাজগুলো মুসলিমদের জন্য নিষিদ্ধ।[10] কিছু আধুনিক হানাফি পণ্ডিত অমুসলিম জিম্মি ও মুসলিম নাগরিকদের মধ্যে আইনি পার্থক্য করতে দ্বিমত পোষণ করেন।[11]
