ENERGY EQUATION + PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

For lots of you, you may hear about physical activity and think “no way,” especially if you hate to get sweaty or feel like you trip over your own feet if you run to catch a ball. But the cool thing is, being physically active is about a lot more than sports. There really is something for everyone.

A great place to start is by figuring out your own exercise personality profile. If you hate to sweat, then maybe you should try swimming! Or if you like to do things in groups, a dance class might be just your thing.

Or, think about things that are unique about you. Always want to be outdoors? Find some hiking paths near your house. Feel like you’re always stressed? Then maybe a class like tae kwon do will help work it off while you work out. The important thing is to figure out what YOU like to do, ‘cause it’s so much easier to stick with it if you love it.

It’s tough to stay alert in classes all day, do stuff after school, see your friends, and get through all your homework at night. Who has time to add physical activity to this list? It’s a weird but true fact: being active actually helps you feel more awake and have the energy to do all the things you want to do every day. Activity helps you feel better, stay alert, and deal with stress. Plus, it helps you sleep better—so you’ve tackled two parts of the energy equation at once.

Play the Game.
