National HIV Testing Day - June 27: Things You Can Do

National HIV Testing Day is observed each year on June 27. On this day, we unite with partners, health departments, and other organizations to raise awareness about the importance of HIV testing and early diagnosis of HIV.

About 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV, and 1 in 7 of them don’t know it. The only way to know for sure whether if you have HIV is to get tested. Learn the basics about HIV testing.

CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of routine health care. People with certain risk factors should get tested more often. HIV testing is a normal part of life—if everyone else is Doing It, you can too!

  • Call 1-800-CDC-INFO.
  • Talk to your doctor or health care provider.
  • Purchase a home HIV test at a pharmacy or drug store.
