விவெரிடே என்பது சிறிய அளவில் இருந்து நடுத்தர அளவு வரை இருக்கக்கூடிய பாலூட்டி வகை விலங்குக் குடும்பமாகும். இக்குடும்பத்தில் 15 பேரினங்களும் 38 இனங்களும் உள்ளன. சான் எட்வர்டு கிரே என்பாரால் 1821-இல் இக்குடும்பம் முதலில் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டு பெயரிடப்பட்டது.[3] இவை தெற்காசியா, தென்கிழக்காசியா, ஆப்பிரிக்கா, தெற்கு ஐரோப்பா ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் காணப்படுகின்றன. புனுகுப் பூனை, மரநாய் முதலிய விலங்குகள் இக்குடும்பத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவையே.
