കുളങ്ങൾക്കും തടാകങ്ങൾക്കും മറ്റു ഒഴുക്കില്ലാത്ത ശുദ്ധജലസ്രോതസ്സുകൾക്കും സമീപത്തായി സാധാരണ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന നിലത്തൻ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഉള്ള സൂചിത്തുമ്പി ഇനത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഒരിനം ചെറിയ തുമ്പിയാണ് നീലച്ചിന്നൻ (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: Aciagrion approximans krishna).[2][3] ശരീരത്തിന് വയലറ്റ് കലർന്ന നീല നിറമാണുള്ളത്. ഉദരത്തിന്റെ അഗ്രഭാഗത്തായി വശങ്ങളിലുള്ള കറുത്ത ചെറിയ പട്ട ഇവയെ എളുപ്പത്തിൽ തിരിച്ചറിയുവാൻ സഹായിക്കും.[1][4][5][6]

ഫ്രെസർ 1921 ൽ പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഈ തുമ്പിയെ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ഇതിനു Aciargion hisopa race krishna എന്ന് പേരിടുകയും ചെയ്തു.[7][4] എന്നാൽ ഈയിടെ നടന്ന പഠനങ്ങളിൽ ഇവയ്ക്ക് വടക്കു കിഴക്കൻ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന Aciagrion approximans നുമായിട്ടാണ് കൂടുതൽ സാദൃശ്യമെന്നും അതിൻറെ ഒരു ഉപവർഗമായി (Aciagrion approximans krishna) കണക്കാക്കാമെന്നും കണ്ടെത്തി.[6][5]
