നാട്ടുകടുവ

കറുത്ത ശരീരത്തിൽ മഞ്ഞ വരകളുള്ള ഒരിനം വലിയ കല്ലൻ തുമ്പിയാണ് നാട്ടുകടുവ - Common club tail (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം:- Ictinogomphus rapax).[2] ഇവയുടെ വാൽ ഭാഗം തടിച്ച് ഗദയോട് സാമ്യം പുലർത്തുന്നു. ഇവയുടെ ശരീരത്തിലെ മഞ്ഞ വരകളാണ് നാട്ടുകടുവ എന്ന പേരു ലഭിക്കുവാൻ കാരണം. വയലുകൾ, ജലാശയങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയ്ക്കു സമീപമുള്ള ഇലകളില്ലാത്ത ശിഖരങ്ങളിലാണ് ഇവ സാധാരണ കാണപ്പെടുന്നത്. നാട്ടുകടുവത്തുമ്പി ആൺ-പെൺ തുമ്പികൾക്ക് നേരിയ നിറവ്യത്യാസമുണ്ട്. പെൺതുമ്പികൾക്ക് ആൺതുമ്പികളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് മഞ്ഞപ്പുള്ളികളും അടയാളങ്ങളും കൂടുതൽ വ്യക്തവും വലുതുമാണ്.[3][4]
