ചേരാചിറകൻ

തുമ്പികളിലെ ഉപനിരയായ സൂചിത്തുമ്പികളിൽ സാർവ്വദേശീയമായ ഒരു ചെറിയ കുടുംബമാണ് ചേരാചിറകൻ - Spreadwing - Lestidae. ഇവയിൽ വളരെ മെലിഞ്ഞവയും എന്നാൽ വലിപ്പമുള്ള ഇനവുമാണിത്. സാധാരണ സൂചിത്തുമ്പികളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ പ്രധാനമായും ചിറകു വിടർത്തിപ്പിടിക്കുന്നതിനാലാണ് ഇവയെ പ്രത്യേക കുടുംബമായി ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ലെസ്റ്റിനി, സിംഫെസ്മാറ്റിനി എന്നീ രണ്ട് ഉപകുടുംബങ്ങളും ഇവയിലുണ്ട്. ഇവയിൽ സിംഫെസ്മാറ്റിനി ഇനം ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ചിറകുകൾ ശരീരത്തോടു ചേർത്തു വയ്ക്കുന്നവയാണ്.
