বাগদি

বাগদি (বর্গক্ষত্রিয়) একপ্রকার হিন্দু তফসিলি জাতিবিশেষ। দ্রাবিড়-বংশোদ্ভুত এই জাতিগোষ্ঠীর প্রধান বাসস্থান পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ও বাংলাদেশ। পশ্চিমবঙ্গের পশ্চিমাঞ্চলের বাঁকুড়া, বীরভূম ইত্যাদি জেলায় প্রচুর সংখ্যায় বাগদিরা বাস করেন। এঁদের ভাষা বাংলা।[1][2][3]

২০০১ সালের জনগণনা অনুযায়ী পশ্চিমবঙ্গে বাগদিদের সংখ্যা ২,৭৪০,৩৮৫। এঁরা রাজ্যের তফসিলি জাতি জনসংখ্যার মোট ১৪.৯ শতাংশ। বাগদিদের মধ্যে ৪৭.৭ শতাংশ শিক্ষিত – এর মধ্যে পুরুষ সাক্ষরতার হার ৬০.৪ শতাংশ এবং নারী সাক্ষরতার হার ৩৪.৮ শতাংশ।[4]

প্রাচীনকালে বাগদিরা ছিল পেশাদার যোদ্ধা জাতি।
