Barbara L. Herwaldt

Barbara L. Herwaldt, MD, MPH, is a medical epidemiologist in CDC’s Parasitic Diseases Branch, Division of Parasitic Diseases and Malaria, Center for Global Health. She also serves as the Chief of the Parasitic Diseases Drug Service. She joined CDC’s Parasitic Diseases Branch in 1989, initially as an officer in the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) and thereafter as a medical epidemiologist.

Dr. Herwaldt received an AB in Chemistry from Bryn Mawr College, her MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and her MPH from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital and her fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Barnes Hospital, Washington University. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
