What We Do

HIV

CDC has been working since 1989 with the government of South Africa to develop national HIV clinical, ethical, and research guidelines along with HIV and TB service delivery programs. Since the launch of the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in 2003, CDC support strategically focuses on HIV prevention and treatment, addressing HIV and TB co-infection, increasing lab capacity, and improving surveillance programs.

TB

CDC has provided technical assistance to National TB Control Program (NTP) and works with many organizations to address the challenges of MDR TB and TB/HIV in South Africa.
