What We Do

HIV

CDC focuses its efforts on supporting the Government of Haiti in preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS, providing care and treatment to those already infected, preventing mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT), increasing laboratory capacity, strengthening governance and financial management, and building healthcare infrastructure. CDC is also working with the National Public Health Laboratory to develop multiple HIV testing methods and is helping to establish a quality assurance program as well as a training curriculum to build capacity for laboratory accreditation.

TB

CDC has been working with USG partners, the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), in-country partners, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to provide technical assistance, capacity building activities, and logistical support, with a significant focus on improving case detection and treatment success and rebuilding and strengthening laboratory systems. CDC is focused on helping partners implement surveillance programs for drug-resistant TB and national infection control guidelines for multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB).
