What We Do
HIV
CDC has played a critical role in supporting Cambodia in its efforts to eliminate HIV by providing support to the Ministry of Health (MoH), the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Dermatology and STDs (NCHADS), and the National Maternal and Child Health Center (NMCHC). Objectives of this partnership include preventing mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV, strengthening blood and injection safety services, increasing voluntary confidential counseling and testing, and improving and expanding HIV care and treatment programs. CDC is also providing technical assistance to the MoH to strengthen research capabilities and improve laboratory and workforce capacity.
TB
The CDC Regional TB Technical Advisor stationed in Thailand works closely with the Thai Ministry of Public Health and the Southeast Asia Regional TB Program to conduct research to develop better models for TB screening and diagnosis, strengthen local surveillance systems, promote best practices, and train clinical and program staff. CDC has also provided targeted technical assistance and conducted a series of studies in Cambodia to diagnose TB in people living with HIV.
