How to Build These Modules

To insert a video managed within the WCMS, click Add Element in Visual Composer or the WYSIWYG editor and then select YouTube Video (Managed) as the content type. The Settings form allows you to select the video.

To insert a video by referencing its YouTube video ID, click Add Element in Visual Composer and select YouTube Video (Referenced) as the content type. (Referenced video is a single-use content type, but you can create a reusable referenced video with the Visual Composer Module.)

If you are using YouTube Video (Referenced), you must enter the YouTube video ID, (which appears as the “v” query string parameter in the YouTube URL). You should also enter a URL for a low-resolution video outside YouTube. (Some organizations block YouTube.) CDC-managed videos on YouTube — i.e., videos of the type YouTube Video (Managed) — typically include this alternative URL in the video description. The Settings form for a referenced video also includes a field for a transcript file. If a video is non-captioned, you should upload a transcript file to the WCMS (e.g., a 508-compliant PDF).

*The YouTube video ID is included in the YouTube URL after the equal sign.
