We have several hands-on, short-term programs for high school students which offer unique experiences in public health.

Public Health Science CDC Museum Disease Detective Camp
Participants take on the role of disease detectives, use epidemiologic and laboratory skills to probe a disease outbreak, and learn first-hand how CDC safeguards the nation’s health.
High school juniors or seniors 5 Days, unpaid December to April
General Interest Student Worksite Experience Program (SWEP)
A volunteer program offering opportunities to gain practical experience by engaging in projects and tasks that contribute to professional development. Student volunteers are an important part of recruiting and developing skilled workers, and preparing the workforce of the future.
