Highest and lowest percentages of smokers in GATS Survey countries who say they are thinking about quitting in the next year

  • In Bangladesh, 43.8% of current smokers say they’re thinking about quitting in the next year
  • In Uruguay, 33.7% of current smokers say they’re thinking about quitting in the next year.
  • In Malaysia, 14.2% of current smokers say they’re thinking about quitting in the next year.
  • In Indonesia, 10.5% of current smokers say they’re thinking about quitting in the next year.

Highest and lowest percentages of smokers in GATS Survey countries who say they noticed anti-smoking information in the last 30 days in any of the four media channels

  • In Turkey, 91.4% of current smokers say they noticed anti-smoking information .
  • In Malaysia, 91.2% of current smokers say they noticed anti-smoking information.
  • In Bangladesh, 55.1% of current smokers say they noticed anti-smoking information.
  • In Indonesia, 51.6% of current smokers say they noticed anti-smoking information.

  • Prevalence is 5.8% in India.
  • Prevalence is 14.2% in Bangladesh.
