CDC’s Division of STD Prevention is pleased to announce a new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to support laboratory-based antimicrobial susceptibility testing for the Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project (GISP).

The “STD Laboratory-Based Surveillance and Gonococcal Isolate Surveillance Project” FOA is a fully competitive opportunity that will establish a network of regional laboratories to provide timely antimicrobial susceptibility testing by agar dilution of Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolates.

Awardees will support surveillance of N. gonorrhoeae antimicrobial susceptibilities and provide a scientific basis for selection of gonorrhea treatments. Additionally, awardees of the network may be called upon to participate in special projects to advance the microbiological understanding or enhance laboratory-based surveillance of gonorrhea, antimicrobial resistance, and other STDs of interest.

The full Funding Opportunity Announcement, information on eligibility, and how to apply can be found on www.grants.gov by searching the FOA number: CDC-RFA-PS14-1401. The application deadline is August 13th, 2013.
