| Research Concept | This contract will design, develop, and deliver a test and measurement tool based on a proof-of-concept model for mapping wireless coverage areas in underground coal mines. The model will consider the strengths and weaknesses of various software and hardware underground. The final deliverable will consider accuracy of mapping wireless coverage as well as its usability in underground environments. |

This contract is complete. To receive a copy of the final report, send a request to mining@cdc.gov.
The contractor successfully completed the proof-of-concept. The final deliverable was tested at NIOSH's Safety Research Coal Mine. The unit was able to map and save a range of radio frequencies and plot their coverage on a mine map.
