فنکشنل گروپ

نامیاتی کیمیاء میں فنکشنل گروپ سے مراد چند مخصوص ایٹم یا ان کے درمیانی بندھن (bond) ہوتے ہیں جو اس مولیکیول کے کیمیائی تعاملات کی وجہ بنتے ہیں۔ ان کی مدد سے مولیکول کا نام رکھنا بھی آسان ہو جاتا ہے۔
نامیاتی کیمیاء کے تمام مرکبات میں کاربن لازمی موجود ہوتا ہے۔

چند عام فنکشنل گروہان

یہاں چند عام فنکشنل گروہان کی مثالیں دی گئیں ہیں۔ R اور 'R سے مراد ہائیڈروجن یا ہائیڈروکاربن کے مزید ایٹم یا ایٹموں کا مجموعہ ہیں۔

ہائیڈروکاربن

یہ وہ مرکبات ہوتے ہیں جن میں صرف ہائیڈروجن اور کاربن کے ایٹم موجود ہوتے ہیں۔ میتھین میں صرف ایک کاربن ایٹم ہوتا ہے۔ اس کے علاوہ سارے ہائیڈروکاربن میں دو یا زیادہ کاربن کے ایٹم ہوتے ہیں ۔

  • جب سارے کاربن کے ایٹم سنگل بونڈ (یعنی C–C) سے جڑے ہوتے ہیں تو ان مرکبات کو alkanes کہتے ہیں۔ ان میں کوئی دہرا یا تہرا بونڈ نہیں ہوتا۔
  • جب کوئی بھی دو کاربن کے ایٹم ڈبل بونڈ (یعنی C=C)سے جڑے ہوتے ہیں تو ان مرکبات کو alkenes کہتے ہیں۔ ان میں ایک یا کئی ڈبل بونڈ کے علاوہ ایک یا کئی سنگل بونڈ بھی ہو سکتے ہیں۔
  • جب کوئی بھی دو کاربن کے ایٹم ٹرپل بونڈ (یعنی C≡C) سے جڑے ہوتے ہیں تو ان مرکبات کو alkynes کہتے ہیں۔ ان میں ایک یا کئی ٹرپل بونڈ کے علاوہ ایک یا کئی سنگل اور ڈبل بونڈ بھی ہو سکتے ہیں۔
