জ্যোতির্বিজ্ঞানের আলোচ্য মহাবিশ্বজুড়ে নির্দিষ্ট পথে ঘূর্ণায়মান সব বস্তুকেই জ্যোতির্বৈজ্ঞানিক বস্তু বা Astronomical Objects বলা হয়। এর অপর নাম খ-বস্তু বা Ceestial Objects। পৃথিবী সহ পৃথিবীর বাইরে মহাশূন্যে অবস্থিত সব বস্তুই এর অন্তর্ভুক্ত।[1] এই নামটির সাথে গভীরভাবে সম্পৃক্ত অন্য শব্দটি হল: জ্যোতিষ্ক। এই শব্দ দুটি সম্পূর্ণ এক নয়। দেখুন: জ্যোতিষ্ক। পৃথিবী ব্যতিত অন্যান্য সব বস্তুকে জ্যোতিষ্ক বা স্বর্গীয় বস্তু বা Astronomical Bodies বলা হয়।
