Ready, Set,…Prep!

Disasters can strike at any time. Are you prepared for an emergency that can affect you? Here are a few things that will help you and your family prepare for emergencies.

  • Gather a 3-day supply of food, water, and emergency supplies for your family.
If disaster strikes your community, you might not have access to food, water, or electricity for some time. Take time now to prepare at least a 3-day supply of emergency food, water, and disaster supplies for your entire family. And don't forget about your pets and service animals!
  • Make a Family Communication Plan.
Families can cope with disaster by preparing in advance and working together as a team. Know what disasters are likely for your area and create a family communication plan that will help you and your loved ones when disaster strikes.
  • Be informed about disasters that can happen in your area.
In the event of an emergency, listen to TV or radio reports for information from local authorities. You may be required to evacuate or shelter-in-place until danger passes.
