Planning Resources by Setting

Outpatient Clinics and Urgent Care:

Outpatient clinics and urgent care facilities often serve as an alternative place to receive healthcare when individuals are unable to get to a hospital. In the midst of a public health emergency, these settings may see an increase in the number of patients they treat. The following tools are intended to provide guidance and assistance to outpatient providers and staff on how to plan for emergencies in their community.

Reports and Guidance:

  • Disaster Preparedness: A Guide for Chronic Dialysis Facilities – Second Edition
Developed by the Kidney Community Emergency Response (KCER) Coalition, this guide is intended to aid end stage renal disease (ESRD) Networks, CMS, renal‐related organizations, and other groups to ensure timely and efficient disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts are achieved in order to secure ESRD patient access to dialysis treatment or kidney transplant medicine during a public health emergency.
  • Disaster Preparedness and Business Continuity Worksheet
This worksheet is a clinic-specific adaptation of business continuity plans available at ready.gov. A sample business continuity plan is also available at: http://www.uthoustonemergency.org/bc.php.
