NIOSH Research Programs

NIOSH is involved in a range of occupational safety and health activities including surveillance, research and research to practice (r2p). The following programs enhance and support NIOSH’s work in hearing loss prevention.

Occupational Hearing Loss (OHL) Surveillance
NIOSH established the OHL Surveillance Program to serve as a national surveillance system for this common occupational illness. Site includes statistics, data, publications and resource links.

Hearing Loss Prevention Research Program
NIOSH’s planned program of research in occupational hearing loss.

National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA)
A national partnership program to stimulate innovative research and improved workplace practices.

Other NIOSH Programs
The NIOSH Program Portfolio has been organized into 10 National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) Sector Programs that represent industrial sectors, and 24 cross-sector programs organized around adverse health outcomes, statutory programs and global efforts.
