ERGONOMIC INTERVENTIONS IN SHIPYARDS
Hazard: Miles of cable are installed in ships by hand. Cable is usually delivered on spool of various diameters. Cable must be unwound from spool and taken to its final location for installation. Uncoiling cable while spool is resting on deck is strenuous work.
Solution: An adjustable cable spool cradle (see photo) accommodates various diameters and heights of cable spools. This system makes it far less strenuous to remove the correct length of cable from the spool.
