ERGONOMIC INTERVENTIONS IN SHIPYARDS

Hazard: Work along the side of the hull can be performed from scaffolding or from powered manlifts. Erecting scaffolding is time consuming and hazardous work. Structural stability of scaffolding in place for extended periods of time is very important.

Solution: Powered manlifts provide an adequate stable work platform from which one can weld or paint (see photos). Note crush cages on bucket to prevent worker injury when bucket raised into an overhead object.
