Hot environments can be hazardous! Heat exposure can cause a range of effects on your body, from irritating rashes to heat stroke, which is often fatal.

Understanding heat stress can help you to stay safe while working in hot environments. This set of heat stress fact sheets, developed by the NIOSH Mining program, offers practical information about working in hot mining conditions. These fact sheets are intended to be used together as a set, but each fact sheet can also stand alone.
