Track Descriptions and Subcategories

Each of the five tracks have two track chairs assigned to them. Track chairs are responsible for grouping submitting abstracts into sessions. Pairs of track chairs represent a wide variety of expertise and organizations.

Track A: Epidemiology and Surveillance
This track will report on epidemiological, surveillance and laboratory methods and data related to HIV/AIDS research, programs and policies. In particular, this track will focus on: national and local surveillance studies; epidemiology of risk factors, risk behaviors, and transmission patterns; modeling and forecasting the epidemic.

Track B: Prevention Research and Implementation Science
Research focused on the behavioral, social and contextual factors that influence HIV transmission and inform the development and implementation of a broad range of interventions. In particular, this track will focus on: individual, social and structural determinants of HIV; behavioral and biomedical intervention research across a variety of settings and target populations, including prevention with persons living with HIV/AIDS.

Track C: Prevention and Care Programs
Examine behavioral and biomedical prevention programs that seek to address HIV transmission and acquisition at the individual, group, and community level. In particular, this track will focus on: high impact programs that address a variety of settings and target populations; demonstration projects; planning efforts; program evaluation. This track will also address access, linkage, and retention in care.

Efforts to mobilize and engage communities through capacity building, social marketing, and partnerships with governmental, non-governmental organizations, and non-traditional partners. In particular, this track will focus on: multisectoral approaches to HIV prevention; expanding the role of partners to mobilize their constituents and resources in support of HIV prevention; developing and increasing the reach of HIV prevention messages and activities through partners.
