CDC Web Site Receives Government Web Managers Forum 2008 Best Practice Award

The Centers for Disease Prevention and Control's Web site – www.cdc.gov – has received the 2008 Best Practice Award from the Government Web Managers Forum.

The CDC launched the newly revamped Web site in April 2007. The Web site redesign was led by CDC's National Center for Health Marketing, Division of eHealth Marketing. The CDC Web site has continued to evolve in order to provide newer and better features designed to make CDC.gov a more user-friendly Web site.

The 1,300 member Government Web Managers Forum selected CDC.gov and VA MidSouth Healthcare Network as the overall winners at this year’s Government Web Managers Conference in May 2008.

"We are honored to have received this award. This is an important recognition for all the hard work done by the Web team members throughout the CDC," said Janice Nall, director, Division of eHealth Marketing.

"The redesigned CDC Web site has a new layout and a more powerful search engine to help people find health and science information more easily and quickly," said Jay Bernhardt, Ph.D., M.P.H., director of CDC's National Center for Health Marketing. "We want everyone, not just health professionals and scientists, but also parents, students, business people and our partners to get the information they need from CDC when, where, and how they want it."

The CDC Web site averages 10.3 million visits a month, with an average of 40.3 million pages viewed monthly. For more information visit www.cdc.gov.
