Background
CDC developed an economic model, HIVEcon, to help assess all costs and benefits of the proposed rule change as required.
Objective
The objective of this model is to evaluate both the potential number of HIV-positive immigrants to the United States and the health system cost over time, given a change in regulation. The model was developed in excel to allow the user to readily see how the calculations were made and to allow the user to change assumptions and quickly evaluate the impact of those changes on the model outcomes.
