Five Minutes or Less for Health Weekly Tip: Assess Your Relationships

assess your relationshipsIntimate partner violence (IPV) is a learned behavior that can be changed, but the goal is to stop IPV before it begins. It can include physical abuse, sexual abuse, threats, and emotional abuse. Intimate partner violence is linked to harmful health behaviors because victims may try to cope by smoking, drinking, taking drugs, or having risky sex. Take a few minutes to determine if you or others you care about are in an unhealthy relationship, and get help if needed.

  • Assess your relationships to make sure they are healthy.
  • Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) to learn about available services for victims and perpetrators of intimate partner violence and their children.
  • Call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.
