பலிஜா

பலிஜா (Balija) எனப்படுவோர் தமிழகம், கருநாடகம் மற்றும் ஆந்திர மாநிலங்களில் வாழும் ஒரு சாதியை குறிக்கும். பொதுவாக இவர்களை நாயுடு அல்லது நாயக்கர் என்று அழைப்பர். இவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் தாய்மொழி தெலுங்கு ஆகும். கன்னடம் பேசும் பலிஜா சமூகத்தினர் கொங்கு நாட்டில் கணிசமாக வாழ்ந்து வருகின்றனர். பலிஜா இனம் கவரா,கொல்லா, போன்ற சாதிகளை இனைத்து கிருஷ்ணதேவராயரால் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. பலிஜா என்றால் வாணிகம் செய்தவர்கள் என்று பொருள் கூறப்படுகிறது.
