ஆங்கிலேயர் (English) எனப்படுவோர் இங்கிலாந்தை நாடாகக் கொண்ட ஆங்கிலம் பேசும் இனக்குழுவினர் ஆவர். ஆங்கில அடையாளம் ஆரம்ப மத்தியகால மூலத்தை கொண்டது. இது பண்டைய ஆங்கிலம் எனவும் அறியப்படுகிறது. இது சுமார் கி.பி 5 ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் பெரிய பிரித்தானியாவுக்கு குடியேறிய ஜெர்மானிக் மக்களில் ஒரு குழுவின் இனப்பெயர் ஆங்கில்கள் என்பதில் இருந்த பெறப்பட்டது.[6] இங்கிலாந்து ஐக்கிய பிரித்தானிய நாடுகளில் ஒன்றாகும்.
