পংখিল

পংখিল(বৈজ্ঞানিক নাম: Byasa polyeuctes(Doubleday)) এক প্রজাতির বড় আকারের প্রজাপতি, যার মূল শরীরটা লাল বর্ণের, ডানা কালো এবং তার ওপর লাল এবং সাদা রঙের নকশাযুক্ত। এরা ‘প্যাপিলিওনিডি’ পরিবারের এবং 'প্যাপিলিওনিনি' উপগোত্রের সদস্য।

প্রসারিত অবস্থায় পংখিল এর ডানার আকার ১২০-১৪০মিলি মিটার দৈর্ঘের হয়।[2]

বিস্তার

এদের ভারতএর হিমালয় এর হিমাচল প্রদেশ থেকে সিকিম, আসাম পর্যন্ত দেখা যায়। পূর্ব ভারতে ১০০০-৫০০০ ফুট উচ্চতা পর্যন্ত এদের দেখা মেলে তবে কাশ্মীর অঞ্চলে এদের ১১০০০ ফুট উচ্চতাতেও দেখা যায়।[4]

এছাড়া পংখিলদের পাকিস্তান, নেপাল, ভুটান এ ৫০০-২০০০মিটার উচ্চতায়[5], মায়ানমার, থাইল্যান্ড এর উত্তরাঞ্চল, লাওস, ভিয়েতনাম এবং চিন এর দক্ষিণ অংশে এদের পাওয়া যায়।[6]

আচরণ

পংখিলরা সাধারনত অলস ভঙ্গিতে উড়তে থাকে গাছের মাথার উপর দিয়ে। এদের লম্বা এবং বড় আকৃতির ডানার গঠন দেখে ওড়ার সময় খুব সহজেই চেনা যায়।[7] সাধারনত এদের ছোট ছোট দলে ভেজা মাটিতে জল পান করতে দেখা যায়।[8]
