Epidemiologist, Arthritis, Epilepsy and Well-being Branch, Division of Population Health, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, CDC

Kamil E. Barbour, PhD, MPH, is an epidemiologist with CDC’s arthritis program. He trained with the CDC as an Epidemic Intelligence Services officer. Dr. Barbour has authored more than 50 journal articles and received numerous public health service awards. His research interests include general arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and fractures. Dr. Barbour has also deployed for numerous public health emergencies, including: cholera, polio, Ebola, and Zika. He is an active member of the American College of Rheumatology and the American Society for Bone Mineral Research. Dr. Barbour received his PhD in epidemiology and MS in biostatistics from the University of Pittsburgh, and a MPH from Brown University

Senior Director, Evidence-Based Health Interventions, YMCA of the USA

Heather Hodge is the senior director for Evidence-Based Health Interventions at the YMCA of the USA. In this role, Heather provides leadership for the YMCA’s national infrastructure to support evidence-based programs through public/private partnerships. Examples of some of these programs include the Diabetes Prevention Program and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA. Heather’s career at the YMCA has spanned more than 16 years, and during that time, she has led efforts to strengthen support of individuals and families trying to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles. Heather spent several years working on national grants for teen-based programming from the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Pew Charitable Trusts. She received a BA from Butler University and MEd from DePaul University.

Candice Lee is a public health consultant for the CDC-supported arthritis program in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. She has been with the department since 2008. Candice earned her MSA from Central Michigan University.
