Pacific Island Health Officers’ Association

The Pacific Island Health Officers’ Association (PIHOA) is a nonprofit organization that is led by and represents the collective interests of the ministers, secretaries, and directors of health of the US-Affiliated Pacific Islands (USAPI). The USAPI include the three United States Flag Territories of Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, and three independent nations in a special compact relationship with the United States. These Freely Associated States are the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, and the Federated States of Micronesia.

Anticipated outcomes of the cooperative agreement include

  • Effective PIHOA secretariat support and increased USAPI health leadership capacity
  • Strengthened USAPI laboratory management systems and diagnostic and public health surveillance capacities
  • Improved USAPI human resource management systems and workforce development
  • Strengthened USAPI health information systems, performance, and resource monitoring capacities
