About 198 million people—or almost two-thirds of the US population—are now served by a health department accredited through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB).
More than 90% of accredited health departments report that accreditation stimulates quality improvement, strengthens accountability and transparency, and improves management processes.
Health departments preparing for accreditation can use a crosswalk of PHAB accreditation standards and CDC’s Prevention Status Reports, as well as other tools and resources from CDC and its partners.

Everyone 6 months or older, with rare exceptions, should get a flu vaccine annually.
Flu causes millions of illnesses, hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations, and thousands of deaths every year.
Insurance can cover the cost of preventive services like the flu vaccine. Eligible consumers can enroll in a 2016 Marketplace plan through January 31.

It’s open enrollment season through the Health Insurance Marketplace, where nearly 8 out of 10 people can get insurance coverage for $100 or less per month.
You can sign up for a plan at HealthCare.gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596 through February 15. Once enrolled, you can use the Roadmap (English [PDF-959KB] or Spanish [PDF-621KB]) to learn about benefits.
If you had coverage in 2014, you can take 5 steps [PDF-277KB] to stay covered through 2015.

People with health insurance get more preventive care and report better physical and mental health.
Beginning October 1, Americans will have a new way to find affordable health coverage—including many free preventive services—on the new Health Insurance Marketplace.
Americans can visit the new HealthCare.gov website or call 1-800-318-2596 now to ask questions and prepare to enroll.

Starting in 2014, Americans will be able to easily compare all their health insurance options in one place using the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Resources are available to help inform consumers about the Marketplace, including a toolkit, market research and survey data, and a glossary—all written in language that makes sense.
You can encourage your constituents to sign up for updates about the Marketplace by adding badges and widgets to your website, social network profile, or blog.
