COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION DISSEMINATION
Inputs: Emerging Issues
Nanotechnology
The NIOSH Communication and Dissemination Cross-Sector Portfolio is developing a series of brochures that address risk communications issues in nanotechnology. These brochures are targeted to employers, health care professionals, laboratory researchers, small businesses, the public, and other stakeholders as determined.
Research to Practice (r2p)
Health communication activities at NIOSH involve a systematic approach to deliver new knowledge for decision-making and improving customer impact. The Communication Portfolio is aligned to provide assistance and build the capacity of NIOSH researchers and partners by providing tools and techniques to reach their intended audiences.
Social Media
In 2008 NIOSH enhanced its leadership role within the public health community by implementing Web 2.0 applications. These applications provide opportunities for NIOSH researchers to truly engage with audiences in ways unimaginable just a few years ago. The Web 2.0 revolution is as much about changing communication culture as it is about using social networking sites, such as MySpace, Facebook, Wikipedia, Flickr, Twitter, and blogs, to reach diverse audiences with safety and health information.
