NHANES Environmental Chemical Data Tutorial

Critical Issues for Analysis of Environmental Chemical Data

The Critical Issues for Analysis of Environmental Chemical Data course consists of three modules:

Module 11: Important Analytic Considerations and Limitations

Module 12: Data Normality and Transformations

Module 13: Using Urine Creatinine or Blood Lipid Adjustments

The following three modules (11-13) provide an introduction to and description of critical issues related to the analysis of environmental chemical data. Module 11 highlights key issues in the analysis and interpretation of the results, (e.g.  limit of detection and NHANES sampling approaches).  Module 12 discusses approaches to examining the distributions, including possible data transformation. Module 13 provides guidance for some adjustments of the data that may aide in assessing potential differences in the study population.

If you are new to analyzing environmental chemical data, then you would benefit by reviewing these modules and other exploring other sources on these topics which are available in the printed research literature or on-line resources. The section titled “Additional Information” at the end of the NHANES Environmental Chemical Data Tutorial contains selected links to web resources that might assist with this process.
