FY 2018 President’s Budget

The President’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget request, released on May 23, 2017, outlines the administration’s priorities within the federal government and addresses critical needs across the country. This request includes an appropriation of $514 million for the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. It includes a $12.5 million increase for vector-borne diseases. These resources would allow for enhanced capacity in laboratory, case and outbreak investigation, and vector control.

1Antibiotic Resistance was appropriated as budget authority in FY 2016 and 2017. In the FY 2018 President’s budget, it was proposed as part of Prevention and Public Health Fund  (PPHF).

2The FY 2016 and 2017 appropriations for Vector-borne diseases have been adjusted to include Lyme Disease which is a non-add in FY 18. In FY 2016 and 2017, Lyme was appropriated as a separate budget line.
