Executive Summary: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces the availability of fiscal year (FY) 2017 funds of approximately $4M from Budget Authority [BA] will be awarded through cooperative agreements to support childhood lead poisoning prevention activities including: blood lead testing, surveillance, and targeted population-based interventions. In addition, as part of this FOA, awardees will be expected to demonstrate that processes are in place to identify lead-exposed children and link them to recommended services. More specifically, awardees will be expected to work closely with other agencies, partners, other stakeholders serving children to ensure that a comprehensive system of referral, follow up and evaluation is in place for lead-exposed children.

Purpose: This funding is intended to support activities to reduce lead exposures and lead poisoning. Activities include: screening, reporting of blood lead data to CDC, data management/surveillance, and targeted population-based interventions. Awardees will also be expected to demonstrate that processes are in place to identify lead-exposed children and link them to recommended services. Awardees will be expected to work closely with agencies, partners, and other stakeholders serving children to ensure that a comprehensive system of referral, case management, follow-up and evaluation is in place.
