American Psychiatric Association (APA)
APA works to ensure humane care and effective treatment for all persons with mental disorder, including mental retardation and substance-related disorders.

American Public Health Association (APHA)
The APHA is the oldest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world and has been working to improve public health since 1872. APHA builds a collective voice for public health, working to ensure access to health care, protect funding for core public health services and eliminate health disparities.

American Indian/Alaska Native Professional Resources

American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC)
AIHEC is a professional association for Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) governed by each member institution.

American Indian Science & Engineering Society (AISES)
AISES nurtures community building and self-reliance among American Indians and Alaska Natives. CDC hosts AISES students every summer in its internship program.

Association of American Indian Physicians (AAIP)
The mission of AAIP is to pursue excellence in Native American health care by promoting education in the medical disciplines, honoring traditional healing practices, and restoring the balance of mind, body, and spirit. AAIP's members are very active in medical education, cross cultural training, and assisting Indian communities.

National Alaska Native American Indian Nurses Association (NANAINA)
NANAINA is committed to improving the quality of health care, education, and economic opportunities for American Indians and Alaska Natives. OMH collaborates with NANAINA to advocate and address these same priorities.

Asian American Professional Resources

Asian American Government Executives Network (AAGEN)
The mission of AAGEN is to promote, expand and support Asian Pacific American leadership in the federal, state and local governments.

Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA)
AAJA’s mission is to encourage Asian Pacific Americans to enter the ranks of journalism, to work for fair and accurate coverage of Asian Pacific Americans, and to increase the number of Asian Pacific American journalists and news managers in the industry.

Black or African American Professional Resources

Association of Black Cardiologists, Inc. (ABC)
ABC is a professional organization of African American cardiologists. The association is dedicated to making exemplary health care accessible and affordable to all, is committed to advocacy and diversity, and lowering the high rate of cardiovascular disease in minority populations.

Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi)
ABPsi is a national professional association dedicated to actively addressing the serious problems facing black Psychologists and the larger black community. ABPsi’s goal is to have a positive impact on the mental health of the national black community.

National Black Nurses Association (NBNA)
NBNA is a professional nursing organization whose mission is to provide a forum to address the health care needs of African Americans.

The National Medical Association (NMA)
The NMA is the largest and oldest national organization representing African American physicians and their patients in the United States. The professional and scientific organization represents the interests of more than 50,000 African American physicians and the patients they serve.

National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN)
NAHN strives to serve the nursing and health care delivery needs of the Hispanic community and the professional needs of Hispanic nurses. NAHN is designed and committed to work toward improvement of the quality of health and nursing care for Hispanic consumers and toward providing equal access to educational, professional, and economic opportunities for Hispanic nurses.

National Council of La Raza (NCLR) Institute for Hispanic Health (IHH)
IHH is dedicated to reducing the incidence, burden, and impact of health problems in Hispanics. IHH works in close partnership with NCLR affiliates, government agencies, private funders, and other Hispanic-serving organizations to deliver quality health interventions. These interventions focus on improving access to and utilization of health promotion and disease prevention programs.

The National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA)
NHMA provides policymakers and health care providers with expert information and support in strengthening health service delivery to Hispanic communities across the nation.
