Dr. Grant Baldwin is the Director of the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention at the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He has served in this capacity since September 2008.

Dr. Baldwin began his career at CDC in September 1996. He joined the CDC Injury Center in November 2006 as acting Deputy Director. In this role, Dr. Baldwin assisted the NCIPC Director in providing overall leadership and direction for the Center. In Dr. Baldwin’s nearly 10 years of leadership at the Injury Center, he has helped raise the profile of motor vehicle injury prevention and scaled up CDC’s response to the prescription drug overdose epidemic. He has also advanced the work in older adult fall prevention and CDC’s efforts in the prevention of traumatic brain injury – especially those caused in youth sports and recreation.

Dr. Baldwin received his PhD in Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2003. He also received a MPH in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in 1996. He is also an adjunct associate professor at Emory University.

Serving as a spokesperson for DUIP, he has given keynote addresses or provided remarks at over 50 state, national or international conferences and meetings. He has authored or coauthored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and received awards of excellence for his leadership and teaching.
