Lieutenant Commander Erin Parker, PhD, serves as a Health Scientist with the Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention (DUIP) in the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC). As a member of the Home, Recreation, and Transportation Branch, she works on projects related to child injury, older adult falls, fires/burns, and drowning. She also provides oversight and technical assistance for DUIP’s global road safety projects.

Dr. Parker began her career at CDC in 2011 as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer in DUIP. She has been in her current role as Health Scientist since 2013. Dr. Parker is a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Public Health Service.

Dr. Parker received her bachelor of arts degree in economics from Middlebury College, in Middlebury, Vermont, and her MA and PhD in Sociology from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. As a graduate student, she was a Demography Trainee and National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Fellow at the Population Studies and Training Center at Brown.
