கல்லிபார்மஸ் என்பது கனமான உடலைக் கொண்ட தரையில் உண்ணும் பறவைகளின் வரிசை ஆகும். இதில் வான்கோழி, கிரவுஸ், கோழி, புதிய உலகக் காடை மற்றும் பழைய உலகக் காடை, பிடர்மிகன் (லகோபஸ்), கௌதாரி, பெசன்ட் (pheasant), காட்டுக் கோழி ஆகியவை உள்ளன. இலத்தீன் மொழியில் "கல்லுஸ்" என்ற சொல்லுக்கு "சேவல்" என்று பொருள். அச்சொல்லிலிருந்தே இப்பெயர் தோன்றியது.
