ചെറുകുയിൽ

ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ Grey-bellied Cuckoo എന്നോ Indian Plaintive Cuckoo എന്നോ വിളിക്കുന്നു. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Cacomantis passerinus എന്നാണ്. പുൽച്ചാടികളും പ്രാണികളുമാണ് ഭക്ഷണം. വാൽ താഴ്ത്തി പിടിച്ചാണ് ശബ്ദിക്കുന്നത്. മറ്റു പക്ഷികളുടെ കൂട്ടിൽ ഒരു മുട്ടയാണിടുന്നത്.

വിതരണം

ഏഷ്യയുടെ തെക്ക് ഇന്ത്യ, ശ്രീലങ്ക തുടങ്ങി ഇന്തോനേഷ്യ വരെ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇത് ദേശാടനം നടത്തുന്നതാണെങ്കിലും അധികദൂരത്തേക്ക് പോകാറില്ല.

രൂപവിവരണം

ഈ പക്ഷിയ്ക്ക് 23 സെ.മീ. നീളമുണ്ട്. ഇരുണ്ട ചാര നിറമോ കടുത്ത തവിട്ടു നിറമോ ആയിരിക്കും. വാലിലെ തൂവലുകൾക്ക് വെളുത്ത തുമ്പുണ്ട്. താഴെ നിന്നു നോക്കുമ്പോൾ ഒന്നിനു താഴെ ഒന്നായി കുറെ ചന്ദ്രക്കലകൾ കാണും. [2] വാലിന്റെ അടിവശവും വയറും വെളുത്തതാണ്.
