What does The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act mean for individual people who responded to the Pentagon and the Shanksville, PA crash site?
The Act now provides for medical monitoring and treatment for emergency responders, recovery and cleanup workers, and volunteers who were directly involved in the response to the attacks on the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, and the passenger-jet crash site near Shanksville, PA, on September 11, 2001. The Pentagon and Shanksville, PA responder communities were not served by World Trade Center medical monitoring and treatment services that came before the passage of the Act.
Who this may apply to:
- Fire department employees (both fire and emergency personnel, active or retired)
- Police department employees (active or retired)
- Recovery or cleanup workers and contractors
- Volunteers (including Red Cross)
If you were a member of one of these groups and you took part in the rescue, recovery, demolition, debris cleanup, or other related services at the Pentagon or Shanksville, PA sites, you may be eligible for the WTC Health Program.
