The James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010 allows any interested party to petition the Administrator of the WTC Health Program to add a condition to the list of WTC-Related Health Conditions. In response, the WTC Health Program has established a Policy and Procedures for Handling Submissions and Petitions to Add a Health Condition to the List of WTC-Related Health Conditions.
The petition must include:
- Name and contact information of the interested party
- Name and description of the conditions(s) to be added; and
- Reasons for adding the conditions (s), including the medical basis for the association between the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the condition(s) to be added.
- Note 1: The medical basis may be demonstrated by reference to a peer-reviewed, published, epidemiologic study about the health condition among 9/11-exposed populations or to clinical case reports of health conditions in WTC responders or survivors. First-hand accounts or anecdotal evidence may not be sufficient to establish medical basis.
- Note 2: The Administrator is not required to consider a petition if it requests the addition of a health condition previously considered and the petition does not include a new medical basis. Please check HERE to determine if the health condition you are interested in has already been considered.
