CDC Data Sources

  • Child Health Statistics
    CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics provides information on the health status of children in the United States.
  • National Violent Death Reporting System
    CDC has funded 40 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Ricoand established the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) to gather, share, and link state-level data on violent deaths. NVDRS provides CDC and states with a more accurate understanding of violent deaths. This enables policy makers and community leaders to make informed decisions about violence prevention programs, including those that address child maltreatment.
  • WISQARS
    Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System (WISQARS), pronounced “whiskers”, is an interactive database that provides national injury-related morbidity and mortality data used for research and for making informed public health decisions.

  • Administration for Children and Families
    The Administration for Children and Families provides state and national data on child abuse and neglect. Their findings are summarized each year in an annual report.
