Child, adolescent, and adult participation rates in IIS are reported for the 2015 IISAR to monitor progress toward Healthy People 2020 objectives and program initiatives. The denominators used to calculate child participation numbers are drawn from the 2015 Census Bureau estimates for each state and city. Chicago and Houston denominators are drawn from 2015 American Communities Survey 1-year Estimates (Source: U.S. Census Bureau, Population Division Release Date: September 2016). All island territories with the exception of Puerto Rico are drawn from the 2015 CIA World Factbook Age Structure estimates.
