Speakers' Biographies
Denise J. Jamieson, MD, MPH; Captain, US Public Health Service
Incident Manager, 2016 Zika Virus Response, CDC
Dr. Denise J. Jamieson is the chief of the Women’s Health and Fertility Branch in CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. She is also a Captain in the US Public Health Service (USPHS) and adjunct professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University. Dr. Jamieson has served on several committees for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, including serving as the chair of the Committee on Gynecologic Practice. She has been an oral board examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2007, and she is a member of the editorial board for Obstetrics & Gynecology. She has twice received CDC’s highest award for scientific excellence, the Charles C. Shepard Science Award for outstanding manuscript. Dr. Jamieson has received a series of USPHS awards, including the Commission Corps Outstanding Service Medal, the Commission Corps Commendation Medal, and the US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary's Award for Distinguished Service. Dr. Jamieson practices obstetrics and gynecology at Grady Memorial Hospital, a large publicly funded hospital serving many uninsured and disadvantaged women in Atlanta, Georgia.
Ellen Lee, MD
Medical director of the General Surveillance Unit within the Bureau of Communicable Disease at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
Before her work at the New York City health department, Dr. Lee worked on accelerating introduction of routine childhood vaccines in resource-poor countries. In the New York City health department’s response to the ongoing Zika virus outbreak, Dr. Lee has been leading the investigations of congenital Zika virus infection. Dr. Lee trained in pediatrics at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York and in applied epidemiology through the Epidemic Intelligence Service at CDC.
Siobhan Dolan, MD, MPH
Professor and vice chair for research in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Women’s Health at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York.
Trained as an obstetrician gynecologist and clinical geneticist, Dr. Dolan maintains her clinical practice in the Division of Reproductive and Medical Genetics at Montefiore Medical Center. She also serves as a medical advisor to the March of Dimes, working to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, preterm birth, and infant mortality. Dr. Dolan’s research interests focus on the integration of genetics into maternal and child health.
