Speakers' Biographies
Karin Mack, PhD
Senior Behavioral Scientist, Prescription Drug Overdose Team, Division of Unintentional Injury Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, CDC
Karin Mack, PhD, is a senior behavioral scientist with the Prescription Drug Overdose Team within CDC’s Center for Injury Prevention and Control. Dr. Mack is also an adjunct assistant professor in the Sociology Department at Emory University. During her 19 years of federal service, she has given more than 90 scientific presentations, authored more than 60 publications, and co-edited the book Healthy & Safe Homes: Research, Practice, & Policy.
Dr. Mack received her doctorate in sociology from the University of Maryland in College Park.
Anne Rogers, MEd
Maine Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services, Maine Department of Health and Human Services
Anne Rogers is the data and research manager for the Maine Office of Substance Abuse. She has worked in the field of prevention, health promotion, and public health for more than 20 years in a variety of roles. In her current role, she supervises staff overseeing the state’s Treatment Data System, Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey, and Prescription Monitoring Program.
Hal Johnson, MPH
Behavioral Health Epidemiologist, Florida Department of Children and Families, Substance Abuse Program Office
Hal Johnson has coordinated the Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey in Tallahassee since 2001. He has been a member of the Behavioral Health Epidemiology Workgroup since its inception in 2004 and is currently chairman of the group. Johnson is also an active member on several substance abuse committees of the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists. He attended graduate school at Florida State University as a psychobiology fellow, holds a master’s degree in public health from Florida A&M University, and earned a BS degree from Montana State University.
